Fortnite Battle Royale Coming to Mobile

You heard it.  The popular game Fortnite is coming to your mobile phone for iOS.  From Epic Games:

“Starting Monday, March 12, sign-up at www.Fortnite.com for the Invite Event on iOS. Email invites will start rolling out soon thereafter. When you are invited, you will receive an email with a link to download the game from the App Store. If you don’t receive an invite right away, don’t worry. We’ll be adding more players regularly over the coming months. Players who receive invites from Epic will also get friend invite codes to share with others. To participate, you will need an internet connection and iOS 11 on at least an iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017 devices.”

The idea of playing Fortnite on a cellphone or tablet brings up a lot of questions.  Will there be cross platform?  Epic Games Employees have stated that similar to the way a console player can join a PC player and play on PC servers, a mobile user can choose to party up with a console or PC user and will play on their servers.

You will not be able to join a mobile server on your PC or console.  However, another issue arises- you can actually plug in a controller to your phone to play.  Is this fair to other mobile users, who will have to use the built-in movement mechanics that will be offered?  Speaking off.. what will those be like?

Epic Games has commented on the controller issues, and stated that they have thought about what to do. A possible solution in their mind is making it so a mobile user with a controller plugged in would have to play on servers with console users, considering they too are using a controller!

Be sure to sign-up on March 12th for a chance at testing the mobile version of the game.
