Ninja and Drake break Viewer Record 635,000+ for Twitch Solo Broadcaster

And they win their first game!  Click here for the entire vod, time stamped to when Drake joined.

That’s right. Professional Rapper @Drake and Professional Twitch Streamer @Ninja team up for a record breaking Fortnite Battle Royale broadcast to over over 635,000 people.   Before this, the record for a solo broadcaster was held by Dr.DisRespect, who after a controversial return managed to gain more viewers than Tyler1, the League of Legends streamer who was banned by Riot.  However when he was finally unbanned, he managed to hold the title for a short time.  Before Tyler was Faker, another LoL player.

Other Twitch Streams like Riot Games of League of Legends and ESL_CSGO for Counter Strike: Global Offensive have surpassed the 1 million viewer-count.  Ninja and Drake are both using their connections and social media to help get more viewers to the stream, tweeting out the link and having other rappers share it as well.

UPDATE: Ninja reached around 635,000 Viewers with a squad consisting of:

  • Ninja himself
  • Drake, rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, actor, and entrepreneur.
  • Travis Scott, American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer.
  • and JuJu Smith-Schuster,  wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League.

Also in the game was Kim Dotcom, who filled the squad group until rapper Travis Scott finally showed up to play.  Drake tells Ninja how with such long hours in the studio, it helps to play some Fortnite on console to kill some time.  Drake also said he is a fan of pineapple on pizza. Come on Drake.

“You gotta go, you gotta get the dub for us” -Drake to Ninja

What a feeling it must be for Ninja.  Over 500,000 people watched their first game as Ninja takes home the victory, surprisingly with Drake still alive at the end of the game (well.. crawling).  Ninja is taking the stream game to places it has never been, putting streamers like summit1g and lirik to absolute shame.

Top 3 Solo Broadcasters by Viewers*

  2. Dr.DisRespect (387,000)
  3. loltyler1(380,000)

Ninja has recently been averaging at 77,000 viewers for his streams according to TwitchMetrics.  It seems like every time I look he is over the 100,000 viewer mark.

UPDATE: Reddit users want Hotling Bling Emote added to game.

Epic Employee Responds:

Drake is currently waiting to hear back from rapper Travis Scott to see if he wants to get in the party and make it a squad. Travis joined the squad. What is happening.

Other Professional Gamers express their excitement, and interest in Fortnite as they see records being broken and history being made.

Ninja posted his first duo match with Drake. Definitely the best introduction to a stream he could have given Drake as they take home the dub, as Drake says.

Rapper @lilyachty tweets out the stream as support in an attempt to break the 1 million viewer count.
