The Minecraft 1.16 Java Edition Update is live!

The Minecraft Nether Update is finally here!

Gear up and get ready to explore some of the most treacherous terrains in Minecraft with new biomes and hostile/non-hostile Mobs

Mojang News

“Today we’re releasing the full Nether Update in all its glory! Traverse through familiar, fiery wastes into new unexplored fungal forests, spooky valleys, and deltas brimming with basalt. Dig your way through these biomes and you might be able to find a new curious material, suspiciously titled “ancient debris”. What will you make of it (it’s totally not Netherite)?”

New Exciting Features

Netherite

“Netherite is rare material from the Nether. Netherite items are more powerful and durable than diamond, can float in lava, and cannot burn. They are harvested by combining gold with smelted Ancient Debris. This will create a Netherite ingot that you can use to upgrade your diamond tools with.”

Striders

“Striders are passive mobs that spawn in the Nether on lava seas. They can walk on lava and be saddled by the player. A warped fungus on a stick is needed to properly direct a strider, similar to how a pig is controlled by a carrot on a stick.”

Piglins

“Piglins are hostile mobs that spawn in the Nether. They become neutral mobs if the player wears gold armor. They are equipped with crossbows or golden swords. Players can barter with piglins using gold ingots to receive various items.”

Hoglins & Zoglins

“Hoglins are breedable hostile mobs and the main source of food in the Nether. If a hoglin spawns in or moves to the Overworld or the End, it shivers and turns into a zoglin after 15 seconds. Any lead attached to the hoglin breaks when the hoglin converts.”

Basalt Deltas biome

Basalt deltas are volcanic biomes in the Nether. Magma cubes, ghasts, and striders spawn naturally here. Blackstone and basalt generate commonly while gravel, magma blocks, and netherrack generate in the shore of mountains above the lava seas. White ash particles can be seen floating through the air while traveling through the biome, with a gray-purple fog.”

Crimson Forest biome

“The Crimson forest is a dense, red-themed  biome in the Nether.. The forest’s fog is red and glazing particles are seen floating.”

Soulsand Valley biome

“The Soul Sand Valley is a biome located in the Nether. It consists of a large cavern with nether fossils and many different blocks, mainly including Soul Sand.”

Warped Forest biome

“The warped forest is the most peaceful biome found in the Nether. Composing just 9% of the landscape, endermen and striders spawn in this uncommon biome.”

Ruined portals

“A ruined portal is a naturally generated damaged nether portal, which spawns in both the Nether and the Overworld.”

Bastion Remnant

Bastion remnants are large, castle-like generated structures found in the Nether in all biomes except basalt deltas. Piglins spawn in this structure on generation. Hoglins may also spawn on generation in bastion remnants if a hoglin stables generates. Additionally, a magma cube spawner generates in treasure rooms. Bastion remnants are the only way to obtain the Pigstep music disc and the snout banner pattern.”
